Default what block to use in a build?

I am looking to build my stock 4.6 3v I have a 2.3 whipple HO. I am going with all forged internals, cam, ported heads ,arp bolts and more. I also want to bore and stroke the motor to a 5.0. Should I use my cast iron block which is a four bolt main or look for a 2004 cast iron cobra block which is a six bolt main? I want to end up with 650 rwhp. Thanks for your thoughts.

i am also looking into using a terminator block for my build, but havent quite decided yet. i can get one for $600-700 locally so i want it bc it's cheap. i email'd Sean Hyland and he said i would need to get 3v pistons or the exhaust valves will hit the terminator pistons. you would also need some motor mount adapters. there is a guy that uses a MMR block built for a 4v, but he is using his stock 3v heads and cams and it is working.
here is my thread on the terminator block
http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12806

and here is the other thread that uses the MMR block
http://www.modularfords.com/forums/s...d.php?t=100146

and heres the engine mounts for a terminator block

actually our stock s197 blocks are aluminum and can handle a lot of power. but the rods in particular are weak.

NOooooooooo, the block on a 2005+ Mustang is aluminum. The money for a 5.0L is a waste very minimal gains. The best foundation is M-6009-A463SC FRPP 3v aluminum short block, I'ld go with FRPP CNC ported heads too, as for cams make some phone calls to find the best ones suited for your Supercharger.

QTF

OP - if you can save the weight and use a alum block, only stroke to 298 so not to lose the knock sensors

livernois is a popular choice for the 298 stroker.
