procharger??
how are procharger owners getting so much whp out of their stock engines??
Cruising around checking out some procharger kits and their site states that alot of their owners are making 500+ WHP... now I know the stock engine can only take 450 whp tops..

granted they really are just numbers and no dynos or real proof lol

Procharger is a great FI system and very noisy!...lol They have produced very high numbers and many just have it tuned for just that....centri's will produce higher numbers as the RPMs rise and IMO (if the tune is right) can be less hard on the motor (all things being equal) as compared to the twin screw S/C's and turbos...I may catch a lot of flack for saying that but this has been debated before..... its all in the tune and the timing you run.....regardless they can be tuned to whatever HP you want very easily.

The standard system for the GT is very nice, I nearly went with that one. They usually put out somewhere between 400-430whp on a stock GT according to two different shops here in TX. They sound sweet, loud and sloppy.
The reason I didn't go that route was cost vs my performance expectations. I achieved > 400whp on a $3800 Vortech kit from Brenspeed with a $1200 install = $5000. The Procharger estimate I got from one of the most respected shops in this area was $7055 ($5299 for the kit, $80 shipping, $80 dyno, $1092 labor, $54 shop supplies, and $448 sales tax). I could have saved the sales tax by purchasing the Procharger kit from out of state, however they aren't really easy to find with the way Procharger does business. It just wasn't worth the extra $1500-2000 to me in the end was all.
Its a nice system, I don't think you'd be unhappy with it. At the end of the day, when the boost gauge is above 0, its all good.

The Procharger is shipped with a Predator/tune that is rich & conservative from what I understand. You'll almost always get more out of the car with a custom tune. The 450whp # is really just a guesstimate based on people's experience in general. I don't think there is any FI kit out there that you could honestly say with no doubt will be safe 100%. I do believe that its all in the tune personally, so I'd recommend finding a shop that knows the S197s really well. My comfort level was ~400whp on a rich tune so I could stay well away from the 450whp estimate of "safe power". I don't usually wind out the car to redline, so when I shift mine aggressively I'm probably peaking around 400whp which is right on target.
I've never gone to the track but I'm reasonably sure I could crack off a low 12, and possibly a high 11 with some sticky tires, crisp air, and better gears. This is just bench racing though, I have no idea... the cars fast, lets put it that way.
