Ok just wondering how much hp do you actually gain after installing a c&L cai on an 05 to 09 mustang gt? I mean whats the actuall hp not including the tune becuase i know from a tune you gain about 15 to 20 hp, so whats the actuall gain you get from an intake plus tune? i hear people saying 25 hp but how much of that is actually from the intake, or is it mainly from the tune your gaining the hp?

The tune is roughly 75-80% of the CAI & tune combo's net gain. Typical figures for a combo is 15-25+ RWHP with a few variables coming into play. A stand-alone CAI might net you roughly 5 RWHP.
Not sure you could actually run a CAI without a tune. Might get a check engine light due to a leaner fuel ratio. But if you could you'd probably only get 5 or so hp.
dont want to run it without a tune , just wondering is it really worth it to get the intake over just a tune, will it give enough hp to be worth the extra money.

Yes, you can run some intakes without a tune. As long as the MAF housing diameter is the same it should work without a problem, like the K&N.
A CAI w/o a tune is like a day w/o sunshine. Don't do it half-azzed. Do the combo.

If you're on a tight budget, look around in the classified section and you'll be able to find and intake and tuner used for pretty cheap. I was able to get a Diablosport Predator, C&L Racer, and Bamachips tune for $350.
