Default TR3650 Worth Replacing? Rebuild kits?

It seems like every month i end up having something wrong with this damn car. It has a large amount of track passes(im guessing 400~) Yet everything seems to be going premature. The throwout bearings are pure crap, finally found a clutch that works pretty well, and now the 3650 grinds going into only Second. It popped out of second during a burnout(line locked) at the track and ground really hard. I let it wind down and proceded with my run. On the way home i noticed that the car had troubles in second gear, low rpm or high, it ground into second. Low rpm, it floats in, but you feel and hear the grind. High and its just doing high pitched damage. My point is, ill pull the trans out this weekend. Should i look into buying a 3650 rebuild kit? Or just a newtakeoff 3650. I know the 3650's arent very good and ive read about many people going with the TR6060. At this point i relize i run the hell out of it and am looking for advice on it. How can i check to make sure its the sycros before pulling it apart? If i double clutch and it doesnt grind, then its fine? Should i rebuild the 3650/takeoff 3650/Tr6060 or Check into doing something different( trading for a GM) <---- Almost joking. Ive had countless $$'s in this car that i know ill never get back, so what should i put in it next? An auto? heh, just sell the engine and build a 408w with a C6 and fab it in? Im getting sick of this. a tr6060 will be 2k+ all the extra links/shifter etc. so im not to fond of that. -Jon

* Also, i currently read with an aftermarket shifter the adjustable stops should be taken out or it may not fully go into gear with the 3650( mabey why it popped out, even tho its been fine for 5k miles) Can anyone confirm this, as it wasnt on any of the directions i saw.

Wasn't there a thread a while ago where someone mentioned a mass produced 3650 rebuild that handled 700hp or so? Might be something to look into, as I can't imagine that would fail on most any GT.

EDIT: found the post: https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...time-2.html#14

After work today i pulled the trans, im getting good, got it down to 2 hours to take it out. Now i called around and autogear.net has a 1-2 gear rebuild kit for 400+shipping and that's "stock quality" parts. I also contacted american powertrain( in the link above) and haven't got any info back yet. Unless i hear something good( better quality parts for cheap) i will just get a newtakeoff.com tr3650 for 775$ shipped. It will still be stock quality, but it will be an easy swap back in and then ive got a spare if i ever wanted to spend the 400+ for parts. -Jon

Hey I'm about to take mine out for the first time. How are you getting out the top bolts? Any tips that would help me out? I've got a Haynes manual that's helpful but those top bolts are the worst I heard. Any help is appreciated.

I think JPC has a full sized 6pd conversion capable of holding 750RWT. It's obviously more then $400 for a stock rebuild but in your case of heavy track use I think it's well worth the investment.
