5,000 miles on dino is a bit extreme. Most stand by 3,000-4,000 miles on dino and 3,000 is more the norm. I've put well over 200,000 miles on numerous vehicles using 3,000 mile change fequency and Fram (gasp!) filters. None ever used oil.

I like the Royal Purple with a K&N oil filter. I noticed a 1 to 2 MPG increase changing from Castro Syntec to Royal Purple. K&N makes a good filter and it has a 1 inch nut on top of it which makes it easy to remove. You can get both from americanmuscle.com. The oil is $8 a quart and the filter is about $10. I change mine about every 5 to 6k.

RPM Outlet has Royal Purple for 6 bucks a quart. Eventually I'll be ordering some.
I used to use Amsoil all the time though.

I swapped to Mobil 1 5w20 with a motorcraft filter yesterday! This is an upgrade from the Motorcraft Synthetic-blend I've been using!
