Default Tightening down the positive terminal

After almost buying a new battery (before I realized that the battery wasn't sealed and to check the water level), I am attempting to put the batter back into my car.

I can't frickin' figure out how the positive terminal cable tightens back onto the battery nub...there's a bolt and nut, along with a wedge piece that I just can't figure out. I feel like a ******** here! Can anyone take a picture or describe how to tighten the positive cable?

Thanks,

JD

With a wrench?
A 5/16" wrench to be exact.
Clockwise direction to tighten.
Counter-Clockwise to loosen.
Wedge forced down, clamp forced together.
Simple machine called a inclined angle.
If you want a pic, go outside and look at the post.
Better than a pic. Mine looks just like yours.

Exposed lead plates sulfide and become dead.
Low water levels cause sulfiding and loss of battery
capacity even when the levels are brought back to normal.
The sulfiding has occured and that portion of the plates
that was exposed to air is now dead and non-power-producing.

OK...what I failed to mention was that I took the wedge, bolt, and nut completely apart - so I'm not sure which way the wedge is supposed to face - flat side base up with wedge toward the battery?

I figured I would

The trouble isn't connecting it, it's tightening it.

I've rigged it as best I can...

Thanks for the help.

There are actually two wedges.
Thats probably your problem.
Look on the garage floor for the other wedge.
The go together like the building blocks you played with
when you were a kid to form a rectangle.
A square with each of the two opposing sides
being equal in length but different from one another.
Once assembled into a rectangular form, look for the hole
that goes thru them.
This assembly then goes on the bolt coming out of the battery terminal.
The nut then forces them together and wedges the terminal tight.
Not top to bottom but side to side.
