Exclamation For those considering a manual rack...

Be warned that when you order a flaming river rack from BMR (or anywhere for that matter) - don't be fooled by claims of just needing the rack and certainly don't believe if anyone tells you that all you need is the rack.

The rack DOES NOT work with the stock steering shaft - despite BMR saying you only need to weld tabs to the K-Member for it to be all you need.

What nobody told me is that the rack is only the beginning. You also must have a new steering shaft kit because despite the stock shaft begin way too short (which you could fix) - what you can't fix, is the lack of any fittings for for the knuckle...

IF you are considering a manual rack, you must also buy this kit...

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLA-FR1509M/

After you get this kit, it will not fit either and you will have to modify it but it's not that big of a deal. The PIA is making sure you get that part from summit cause without it - there is no way to finish off a manual rack on your car.

After tweaking some - you get this...

...and then you are in business for a manual rack. Once it was all said and done, the wheels turn easy peasy and I was pleasantly surprised the manual rack is no big deal at all - I'd say even for the street so long as your fronts aren't Ginormous.

But no doubt, going to a manual rack was no picnic and some serious work to say the least - there is no 'drop in' 'kit' out there at all so make sure to have a fabricator handy if you are considering this mod and don't forget that shaft kit from summit...

It is a 'pinto rack' - but it's the flaming river pinto rack - it's a little better than an actual pinto rack...lol
