Not sure if talking same thing, but little holes that are in the overhead light fixture are the motion sensors for the security system, open your windows, set the alarm, and stick your arm through window, I discovered this when I parked at a show and opened windows, locked it and a guy with a camera stuck the camera in the window, it took me a while but that was what I was told the holes were for, not 100% where mics are that pick up Sync commands.

I'm pretty sure those are not motion sensors. And the two squares on the mirror will cancel the dimming if you cover them, I have done this as I'm not a fan of that option. I might unplug the rear view to verify that the sync still works.

old thread, but noticed this today at show, stand in front of car look at mirror, see littlte white sqaure, dealer say turns your brights out when oncoming traffic, i tried to test in daylight today with brights on and shine a light in it, did not notice any change and mirror did not get dark, so what is it serving by facing oncoming traffic?

The holes on the bottom are for the Auto Dim Mirror. The bump on the top is for the Bluetooth Microphone. The sensor in the front of the dash is for the Auto Lamps. The holes in the corners of the domelight housing are for the security package.

I wonder if that sensor is used for cars that auto-dim the High Beams.

I'm still trying to figure out if all the Mustang Mirrors are the same .. i.e. ... they have the rear view monitor built in even if you didn't order the rear view camera.
