Default Buying a Mustang, need advice

Hello everyone! I was wondering if someone can help me decide on the mustang thats right for me. Ive been eying this Mustang from North County Ford http://www.north-county-ford.com/inv...UI_detail_new2
I want a mid 12 second car that i can drive everyday. It seems a boosted V6 will be able to get me where i want. I guess i could save some money on insurance if i buy the V6 and boost it.
But on the other Hand, i think i would be able to 12s with bolts on.

i'd never buy a v6 muscle car, isn't that illegal? and if your gunna put money into, why not boost a v8 and get what your really asking for, power, torque, and have the sound to go with it. to me, more than half the pleasure of fast cars and shaking the windows downtown from the rumble of your american muscle beast. no matter how fast that v6 gets, it'll never sound like it wears the pants on the strip. sorry

Thumbs up

What he said, wait till you have to change a timing chain in the v-6. Pull the engine time.

I vote V8. A 12 second V8 will be more drivable than a 12 second V6 - you did say this was going to be a DD.

+1 to getting a V8. The stock V6 is just not designed to be driven as hard as you want and still be reliable as a daily driver.

And they are also right about the rumble of a V8. No matter what you do to any V6, you can't duplicate that sound.

V8 FOR SURE!! I've seen blown V6's running slower then stock V8's. Way better choice in the long run. Sure you can get a V6 into the 12's but you'll probably spend a lot more doing it that way.

Well 1st off the car in the link is too expensive, you could find a 2009 leftover for a couple grand more. Anyway a V-6 can be made fast the internals are stronger then the GT however it's weak link is the 7.5" rear end. If insurance difference between the GT and v-6 are that much where it may be worth boosting a v6 into the 12's then go for it but if you're talking a couple hundred then V-8 is the way to go.

Go with the V-8. If you are worried about insurance then maybe you should not worry about having a 12 second street car...

Everything these guys have said, is absolutely true Go with the v8....you CAN get a v6 (not exactly reliably) into 12's as a DD, but #*$% will go wrong a lot sooner than if it was a GT. I'm just saying, your not going to have to 'push' a GT as hard too run 12's as you would have to 'push' the V6. Its science
