Default Alternator & P0340 code

It looks like I'm joining the list of the alternator TSB.

Yesterday on my way home from the gym it rained like a ****. A few times as I was holding a steady speed the car started to buck. Basically it was miss-firing. I thought it might have been a loss of traction due to the rain. At least that's what I was hoping. I also thought it could have been a miss-fire somehow.

Well today I threw a P0340 code which is the cam position sensor code. Reading online, the 05 and 06 have a TSB about the alternator going south and causing this code to be thrown. I figure the VERY heavy rain I was in may have caused it. I'm also going to be installing a new stereo system with a 1200W amp and a 12" sub so I figure having a better alt is a good thing anyway.

So my question is, what is a better alternator I can get? I'd like to get something that's better than stock to help support my new stereo since I need to get a new one anyway due to the TSB.

The car ran fine today, I had no loss of power and didn't have any bucking. I was able to still get the rear loose without any effort like usual. But I should probably go ahead and replace it since there is a TSB on it and I got that code.

I anticipate someone asking - no I do not have UDPs.

The cam sensor code can also come up if there is a short in the circuit wiring, exposed cores can cause an intermitent short when it's damp out, that code can also be thrown by a crank sensor circuit short as well so before you spend any money on upgraded alternators make sure that will fix the problem.

Yeah I'm going to hold off on an alt right now. So far I haven't seen the code again.

Perhaps when I changed my plugs, since I had a lot of crap un-plugged, something is exposed now. I also had the starter disconnected when installing my headers.

Yeah I found that AM has those. So if I do need one I'll get one of those.
