Anyone actually switch from 3.31's to 3.73's? Opinions!

My local dealer quoted me about 700. That's parts + labor and done by the guy who does all the Ford Racing stuff.

Went to 3.73 from 3.31 and wasn't blown away by the difference, but was pleased. 1st gear is pretty short, IMO 4.10's would be overkill. But like it seems to me, OP, your car is a street car with occasional trips to the track- mine too, and 3.73 fits the bill perfectly.

Also, I had GTR performance in southern california do the install and the gears have worked silently and smoothly since I drove it out of their garage.

My dealer and an ASE qualified auto mechanic with a lot of years of experience recommended me the 3.55's and they work great for me. A salesman took me out for a test drive in one with 3.73's and one with 3.55's and it felt the same (he was driving pretty agressively in both cars). Yeah I know guys there is a difference but the 3.55's are great Good post above me too. I don't think I have driven one with 3.31's.. I think the automatic GT I test drove had 3.55's in it as well but it was so long ago I can't remember.

Haha you won't be able to feel the difference in gears from the passenger seat, boss.

4.10's are perfectly streetable. Trick is to be light on the throttle except for when times call otherwise. I can do this just fine even on the hair-throttle that I've got tuned. 3 months and countless traffic jams/inner-city driving later, they're still the BEST mod I've done to the car.

What ever you go with gear wise, get the 8.8 take-off
with the T-Loc at the same time with the V6 pinion flange
and gears already installed FTW....

$550 sounds pretty cheap, that is whats so cool about mustangs, cheap mods, plus they look sweet.
