Faulty fuel and temp gauges

Faulty fuel and temp gauges
Just bought a 2005 GT today and no kidding 2 miles away from the lot the check engine light comes on and I notice that the temp gauge is stuck on cold and the fuel gauge looks pegged ridiculously beyond full.
Could the check engine be related to the gauges? Is it possible the car's computer believes the car is always cold?
I bought the extended warranty so I'll take it in Monday. I just want to know if I should park the car until then.

the check engine light might be related to the
gauges, hard to say for sure. it might be
something with the smart junction box, check
under the carpet on the passenger side for wetness.
if it's dry, i'm not sure what would cause 2
unrelated circuits to fail at the same time.

For what's it worth I bought an OBD reader and got code P0340. Some searching on the internet points to a faulty alternator.
I'm guessing that's completely unrelated to the gauges. There is a TSB that maybe relevant to the gauge problem if the dealer charged the battery at some point (does anybody know if dealers do this?). If someone has access to the TSB I'd appreciate some input.

Your servo motors are out most likely...

They sell replacements on eBay if that says anything about the demand for such a thing...
I would have been turning a youie and high tailing it back to the place
of purchase if I was literally 2 miles down the road from purchase and
the check engine light came on...
That is a result of the mechanic just resetting the light
and codes. It then took 2 miles to throw the same code
that the vehicle has probably been displaying whenever driven
then cleared out for the next sucker buyer. No codes cus they been
freshly cleared and the 2 miles brought the deamon back...
Inspect the OBDII connector for signs of heavy usage...
