Default cams and idle

I have had my hot rod cams in for 500 miles now and i love them. My car doesnt stall out and I dont have any surging. At idle my rpms bounce around a little varying around 50 to 100. Is this normal or should i get my tune checked out?

if it's happening with ac on, i would
say it sounds normal.

if it's happening with ac off, i think it's
borderline as to whether it's worth
retuning.

yeah my gut is telling me my air fuel ratio might be off. I tried to go the route of email tune but i guess there is no way of avoiding the dyno

keep it hush hush for now.

i used an email tune also when i first
put in the cams, but eventually ponied
up for the dyno tune.

I most like will be doing a sc in the near future so i wanted to hold off on the dyno until after that. did you use bamachips too?

i got the email tune from brenspeed. even though
they weren't selling hot rods, they were kind enough
to set me up with a tune to get me around, until i
could get to a dyno.

i had the s/c on and i knew brenspeed had lots
of FI experience.

your tune sounds like it might be right on, since
there is so little surging. if it runs smooth going
down the road, it might just hold you over till the
s/c comes along.

yeah i know just about nothing when it comes to computers and tuning so it makes me somewhat uncomfortable. my car actually ran well with no tune so i was wondering if he even did anything at all.

i think maybe if it were colder, temperature
wise, the bama tune would shine compared to
a non cam tune.

Hey there top00cat.... For what it's worth, I've had my HotRods in for about 6 months now and love them. I had a custom dyno tune when they were installed and currently don't have any surging or stalling. I have my idle set at 850 rpm's (5 speed) and once I'm completely stopped at a light or stop sign, it may fluquate by about 50-75 rpm's. I hear this is about normal for us. If it's any worse for some, the tuner can just give it a little more air mix
