Default 4.6L tune question

I just got an 06 mustang gt. i bought it from a dealer with a CAI already installed, along with a full exhaust. wondering if it was tuned because most CAIs require a tune after installation. but idk how to tell, is there a way.

some CAI's dont require a tune, mainly the ones that retain the stock MAF size. Did the dealership give you a tuner with the purchase? Actually, just tell us what brand of CAI you have and maybe take a pic of it. Then, we should be able to tell you if it required a tune or not.

Thats a pic of it. And after doing a little research it looks like its a cheap intake, i think im going to upgrade it. it shows gains of 8 horsepower, that blows.

May I suggest the MMR Annihilator CAI with MAF tube. It looks awesome under the hood and the gains are incredible! I would recommend a tune as well though.

Where you "need" a tune or not (which you likely do for that CAI) a tuner will be one of the best purchases you make for your ride.

Most ANY standalone CAI will net you MAYBE 4-8 RWHP. A CAI & tune combo will net you 15-25 or more. Plus the tuner will allow you to make changes to a few other parameters.

If that's a Steeda and if there's a custom tune installed and you didn't receive a handheld tuner from the dealer, THEN you need to consult with the tech guys at Brenspeed or Bama (2 of the better custom tune writers around) before ordering a handheld. If there isn't a custom tune installed, you'll be throwing a CEL before long. I doubt the dealership that you bought it from was smart enough to adjust the PCM for the CAI.
