400 hp whipple questions
Just a quick question not too sure about the answer i was wondering with the 400hp 400 trq(93 octane tune) whipple supercharger none Intercooled kit what the power ratings would be if it was a 91 octane tune? because i want to use my car as a daily driver still and dont want to deal with 93 octane. so what would the difference be with it being a 91 octane tune? and if it can be changed to more with supporting mods: exhaust, headers, etc.? let me know if anyone has the answer. thanks.

I have a FRPP Whipple HO with the 93 tune and I use the car as a daily driver. I can't say for 91, but I routinely fill it up with 92 and have no problem. There seems to be a perception that high PSI prevents usage as daily driver. I am no expert but I think the tune is what matters most. Good tune = smooth car, good mileage, and good overall operating parameters. That's why I pick FRPP so I would get a tune specifically designed for my car. I have now put 15K miles on the whipple, with no problem whatsoever other than regular oil change.

+2 The FRPP tunes are for 91 octane because 93 is not available in all parts of the country believe it or not. at 400 HP you should make 340hp at the wheels, 362 is extremely good if on a low number dyno like a Mustang brand or Dyno Dynamics brand dyno, Dyno jets are little more "numbers" friendly

You might want to go over what that warranty will cover. $5k motor, 1.5k rear end, 1.5k transmission and only for 12/12,000. Plus it has to be installed by a Ford or Lincoln dealer and they will want you to buy it from them at full retail + tax. I would guess that if a Ford dealer were to replace any of those it would cost more that the coverage amounts which means the warranty is almost worthless IMO.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Let us know when you get blown.

I would suggest getting the HO verison. One quality of the TS is that it is always boosting to some degree, creating heat. You are really limited to the boost you can run safety without intercooling. Intercooling is your insurance policy.
About the FRPP tunes, you can run 91 or 93 octane gas as I just spoke with FRPP tech support on this matter. When you load the tune there will be a parameter called "Octane Adjust". If it is set to "no" the tune will require 93 octane, if it is set to "Yes", then you can run 91 octane.
