OK, thanks everyone. I'll look at cowl hoods, but I've always like big hood scoops so I'll have to do some more research.
I guess I'll have to spend some more and get a hood, or scoop, to look cool, and a CAI to back it up.

Ahh, I should have bought a Festiva, then I wouldn't have these decisions

yea I think that is the way to go, cai and hood scoop for looks, not festiva.

CDC shaker hood
other than that, no hoods do any real ram-air functionality.
The CDC will beg you for a tune and you will cut a hole in your current hood for it to work.
That's pretty much your only viable option (besides modifying a hood to work with one of those short intakes similar to the ones used on LSx engines.)

Default You are limiting you options

You need to look at Western Motorsports ram-air setup that does not need you to cut a hole in your hood or buy a new hood with a $300 paint job added on. It draws air from the front grill for a Direct TRUE Ram air effect and cost about $500 if I remember correctly. They have one that does not need a tune and one that does so get one with Brenspeed/Bamachips. It is a better option than the $750 CDC shaker hood which really looks cool but is not really optimally setup/designed for that direct ram air effect. I would buy the WMS kit but on a tight budget. I bet it is wicked.

The new S197 stang suffer from heat soak badly so do not ever get a metal intake that absorbs heat very quickly. The plastic resist heat soak better.

Chromestang67,

Thanks for the additional input. Just to be sure we're on the same page, is this what you're talking about....
