Anybody ever drive long distances with 4.10's
I want to drive my car from Ft. Walton Beach Florida to Cincy Ohio but at 75 I run about 2600-2800 rpm, its 850 miles one way. Is this a bad idea?

Not at all, I've driven plenty of long distances with 4.10s. The car is not under load and the extra few hundred rpm are no problem
|
No. I haven't driven 800 miles, but have driven 400 or more with my 4:10s and got between 22 - 24 mpg. Take the drive and have fun.

not a big deal... however if you want to lower your RPM for long trips, get a second set of rear rims with a 28-28.5" tire and that will knock a few hundy RPMs off @ speed

In July I drove my 2009 GT from Cincinnati to Ft. Lauderdale with 4.10s and 5 speed manual.
And I went fast. No issues. Al |
Other than dropping a few MPG's as opposed to running around 2000 RPM or less (MY Stang's sweet spot), it's no big deal. Just be sure you're not too close to your oil change or else do it before the trip.
