Default Tires

My stock Pirelli's are in need of being replaced. I think i am going to keep the stock 17 inch wheels. My plan is to have 4 wheels and tires for daily driving and to get two more matching rims and mount either mickey Thompson or Nitto 555R radials for when i take it to the track (drag racing).

Any suggestions on what tires to get for my stock 17x8 rims? Can I go to a 255 width tire with these rims or not? I'm concerned that the Nitto 555's will wear too quickly, how many miles have you guys gotten out of them?

Are talking about the Nitto 555 drag radials? If so, then most people get about 12 to 15K out of them. If you are going to use drag radials just for the track, I would skip the Nittos and go right for the M/T or M&H. M&H 275/50/17 will also fit the 17x8 stock rims. For a DD you can put a 255 on.

For the daily driving i meant the nitto 555's not the nitto 555R (drag radials). Will a 255 fit the stock rim and about how many miles will the tires last?

Those Nitto NT555, the d/d version should last about 30,000 miles. You can put a 255 on the stock rim. I had the nitto 450 extremes 255/50/17 on my stock rims. I had Nitto NT 555 mounted on my 18x9 and 18x10 rims.
