Default Just a few questions

I want to buy the Mustang GT so bad but I can't find any answers for my questions so I thought i'd come here.. I want the GT premium since it comes automatic..

1: Manual Or Automatic Which is better? Honestly I think Manual will get on my nerves driving since I will be using it for everyday use. Plus I like to drag every so often with random people on the street :P I heard automatic is better for drag racing...

2: Is it possible to mod the GT? I understand the GT premium is a 5 speed automatic/manual BUT is it possible to put in a super charger and mod it around new intake.. etc etc?

Thank you ALL for your input please be honest!

1: manual isnt for everyone, when i got my V6 i thought the same way but after i met my friend with his manual i wanted a manual pretty bad. If your the type that thinks driving is fun, manual shouldnt get on your nerves too much if any.

2: edmunds.com has some pretty good info on 0-60 and such

3: you can definitly mod the GT, theres many options for superchargers that will work on the 2010.

4: im positive they make a GT premium auto and all GTs are V8s

Mods hopefully will move this to the correct section, you will want to stick to this section from here on out: https://mustangforums.com/forum/ford-mustang-tech-29/ But IMHO, manual is better for drag racing unless you start getting real serious. The reason is to get good in an auto, you need to set the shift points and firmness with a tuner, need a stall converter to launch at higher rpms, and generally a stock or slightly modded 5spd will beat a auto of the same caliber all day long at least that is my experience.

For a cold air intake on the 05+ mustangs, you need a tuner, so that is like a $400-$500 dollar mod, but you can pick up some nice HP with it, so it is generally worth it. As far as modding, there really isn't much you can't do with these cars. If you want to go turbo, there is a kit for that, you want a supercharger? well which one, and there is a kit for that. You want to do an engine swap, there is a how to somewhere. I mean, there are new edges (99-04) running around with the 5.4L SC lightning motor in them! What you need to do is figure out what you want and how to build for it. If you want a supercharger, you need to see what else will be required to install it and then get all that new power to the ground.

if you are getting a commuter car and live in an area with lots of traffic you might want to get the auto.
It will also be faster in the drags for a newbie. A tune will change the stock auto's shift points so you can concentrate on driving and not shifting.
If you like driving fast on roads with curves you will hate the auto, and in that case I would recommend the manual. Not being able to downshift immediately sucks! While you can manually downshift the auto there is a terrible lag.

BTW, the new GT500's clutch was so light that I wouldn't hesitate to get a manual if the new GT's is equally light. I haven't compared the 2 yet. But the money you save with a manual Mustang (over the more-expensive auto) can be used for a tune and CAI.

i heard the kenne bell 2.8H is a good super charger. the mustang im getting is a v8 315HP 4.6L. How much horsepower you think will that add ? how much gas will i use mpg? i dont want to drop more than a super charger in. i dont think i can afford it lol.. I'm just worried about beating my friends. V10 bmw M6 500+ Horsepower and a nissan 370Z Sport Touring. 2009. Is there anyway I can make a manual car get Tronic? if so then i'll buy the GT500 and put tiptronic..

For drag racing purposes the auto is way easier. You just point it straight and go. With a manual you have to launch correctly, then shift at the proper rpm for every shift. While fun its hard to be consistant.

You can put a SC in a auto, just go to brenspeeds site and check it out. Trans can only handle so much power though. For really big power you need to build your motor and stick with a manual trans.

If you want to beat your beemer bud and have the cash, just get a gt500 and crush him.

SC are about creating boost. You up the boost you up the hp it gives you. I dont know specifically about the kb unit but I imagine its gonna add at least 100+ HP. There are a sh#tload of SC units out there for the mustang. Research em all since your spending some big money on them. KB, saleen, vortech, paxton, rousch just to name a few.

Paddle shifters.....like the other poster said, if you got enough money, you can do anything.
