05 exhaust piping is very goos so a cat back wouldn't do any good. As for axle backs there are several out there and the HP gain is very small. The only reason I changed mine was because I wanted a little louder note out of the exhaust.

Best exhaust for the price is stock.

Unless you are going to do full long tube headders, offroad X pipe, etc., the only real reason to change exhaust on a 05 Mustang GT would be to change the sound.

Does the Flowmaster American Thunder have a higher pitched sound than say, the Bassani, or Borla exhaust? From the sound clip I heard at http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...lers/index.php It sounded kind of high pitched, but the audio file on flowmastermufflers.com sounded a lot lower pitched. So I am kind of wondering what these things really sound like.

I have the American thunders and they are low pitched!

One thing I will say.....you cannot base any decisions on sounds clips, its just not the same as listening to it in person!

The Flowmaster American Thunder is very good value and I love the growl it has

you could try visiting your local mustang club. Funny thing, I can't find a Chicago mustang club listing on the internet. You'd think with 2 million people in the city and another 5-7 million in the burbs, they'd have one.

I just put on SLP Loudmouths. The cheapest axle-backs out there, and they sound SOOOOO good. I had a 70 Challenger with a 340, and with the SLP system, the Mustang sounds better. God, I never thought I would hear myself say that! So, there's my opinion.
