Adverse effects of modding?

I'm a relatively new S197 owner, and with 4 months of ownership, I've already installed CAI, custom tune, and axle-back. These guys are right. Our cars are meant to be customized to fit your personality and goals. Just be careful of your budget, because things can get out of control. Especially with the ease of our "point-n-click" society we live in. Mind you, I haven't done a whole lot to my car yet, but it feels so much different from stock. I even get better MPG with a custom 93 octane tune than I did while feeding it 87 as the factory suggested from new (while not beating on it, of course).
I am blessed with a stubborn Brother in law also, tells me I'm wasting my money and its a poor investment that I'll never get back or make money on... You can't put a price on the ear-to-ear smile I get every time I get an opportunity to stand on the skinny pedal. That's the reason I have a sportbike as well, but that's another convo for another time. Make your car yours, it was made for you to do so

- Makes the car faster which gives you wood.
- Makes the car look better which gives you wood.
- Makes the car louder which gives you wood.
- gets you more chicks which gives you wood.

Ejan,
These guys are right...these cars can be money pits. I started out slowly, with a CAI and ended with a V3 S/C...
...as far as adverse effects. I had my PCM go bad, my TB go bad, and my fuel pump go bad within about a month of each other...the dealer**** tried to blame my CAI/Tune, but it probably wasn't the problem, sometimes things just break.
Just make sure you mod it with a reputable shop. I started with Bamachips and when I got my V3, went to Brenspeed. IMO, Brenspeed is better, and you simply can't beat there customer service....
...and as far as pissing the wife off, I'll take my mustang over the wife...lol...and you can't get that grin off my face when I open the throttle.

At least my wife likes the Mustang (she hated my Vette when I had it), but man, she hates the whole modding thing, she doesn't get it, she's too practical. When I bought the Mustang, in the showroom she said "now please promise me you won't buy any stuff for this car?" Suuuuuurre, honey!!!!! LOL
