Default IAT after the intercooler???

So my buddy and I installed my whipple SC and I am hearing from some that the IAT needs to be moved after the intercool... I have a 2008 and i just dont know where it would be possible to move after the intercooler. I know on turbo kits you can do that but trying to figure this one out. Heard it makes your engine more reliable at higher boost.

First post, but here it goes. I purchased a 06 GT about three weeks ago. Among the many other mods I installed a Whipple/FFRP SC HO. You would think with all the reconnections and "complete kit" statements that the IAT would be relocated or Whipple would at least include a bung with a plug. Not so. You would think relocation of the IAT would be at least mentioned to allow the installer to do so. Not so. After the install, relocation utilizing the metal sensor requires you to pull the blower and manifold off, drill and tap for the sensor, and reinstall. I only found out about the need to relocate the IAT after booking a dyno tune. This is my first FI motor and I thought I had educated myself enough, but I guess you always miss something. With Florida's high heat you really want to do the relocation to measure air temp after boost to allow the timing to be pulled when the boost air temp is higher than the ambient temp which is currently is measured at the MAF. Me, I ordered the hard plastic IAT sensor (Motorcraft part # DY735) and accompanying connector (Motorcraft part # WPT420) and will install in the 1/8 NPI location on the manifold at the passenger rear runner until I pull the manifold to tap for the metal sensor. Both will work but I prefer a metal sensor over plastic. BTW, the metal sensor is Motorcraft part # DY754. Playing with FI is not a game and the little extra effort to ensure a good tune by relocating the IAT is, IMHO, necessary. Good luck.

I don't understand this. Is this only for you guys with high boost? With the crappy tunes I've had my PCM pulls tons of timing in the hot weather.I lose so much torque it feels like my v6.Would this mean my tune is not timing locked.I guess I should ask.

Also the IAT sensor and the MAF sensor that goes into the intake are the same sensor right? so how are you supposed to move it after the intercooler? wont the computer go crazy with those readings?
