I don't see why you couldn't use another filter. As long as the diameter is correct where it connects to the tube, why not? The cone style filter that comes from C&L looks just like a K&N anyway. I'd be willing to bet that it flows similarly also

And I guess the main question is how can I raise the pipe so the filter won't be touching the lower part anymore ???

I'm scratching my head on this one, too. How about a few pics?

There are a few choices for replacement conical filters. Amsoil sells a dry filter that I consider to be a decent replacement. I had googled this issue about a year back and if I recall, there are a few different filters, both dry and oiled, to choose from that will work fine.

its not burned....its caused from the rubbing. Its not going to harm anything but i dont think the installation is quite right to rub that much

I had a rub on mine,
just loosen the mounting screws and raise the end of the intake a bit to prevent any rubbing.

even with the larger filter I have no rub.
A friend of mine just added a thick rubber O-ring to fix his rub, but I like repositioning the intake better myself.

and no more oily mess.

That's a nice looking air filter ShadyNinja. Definately an under-hood, "Wow", modification!
How much was it? Does it filter and flow better than the old school oil wetted K&N? I've heard they do.
