Looking for help on Air filter for Supercharged Engine.
So, I have a Roush supercharged 4.6 and am unsure what I can do with the CAI that is currently on there!
This is what I have currently:
As you can see, it is the standard Roush intake, however, I would like to keep the induction tube, but what about the box that encloses the filter??
It is the box and the filter that I'm questioning.... I take it the box helps keep the hot air from the engine bay away from the filter..... so I think that is a keeper.
What about the filter..... any recommendations?
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
Elmo

That is roughly what I have already, except that the model shown has an open box and filter. I don't really want to have to buy the whole kit again.... that's 415 bucks!
Any other ideas?

I'd just buy the rousch intake or leave it the way it is. $415 is not a lot of money when you consider the fact you are driving a $25k car with a $6k blower package.

You could do a number of things depending on your ultimate goal. If you want to keep the existing airbox, you could open it up a bit more from the bottom which would help it flow some additional air (I had to do this when installing my E-force). Or just swap out the stock airbox for another style CAI. Considering most aftermarket CAI's like the Steeda could easily be installed in place of the stocker using the stock intake tube and would not even require a different silicone adapter tube. As an example, I plan to hook up a Bullitt CAI to my E-force as all that is really needed is a slightly different silicone adapter (plus a new tune, of course).
However, any time you make a change to the amount of airflow, an update to your tune is required. Even the Roush CAI designed for your set-up states a PCM calibration is needed. So if you don't want to invest in a new dyno tune, not sure there is much you can do other than going with Roush as it comes with free return shipping for getting your PCM reflashed.

He would need more than just a cone filter. He doesn't have a metal adapter that connects that intake tube with the filter box.

Does seem a bit tight fisted when I have spent so much on the car so far only to be a bit negative over 400+ bucks!
