i have a upholstery shop , i do them all the time. i would suggest you take it to a shop to get it done. i am sure you will hear people say they did one and it wasent hard, it looks great all you need is this or that. you want it to look good and you want a waranty that will be worth something. most likely you need a top also, unless the top has been done in the recent past. tha listings that hold the top down to bows rot away.at least go to a shop near you and have them look at it, they will be able to tell you what kind of shape your top is in. alot of times even though it looks ok there are problems that will show up if you put just a new window in. if you think you want to try it yourself PM me and i will give you my email, you can send me some pics and i will see if i can give you some usefull instructions to try and help.

I plan on replacing the top on my 92 Saab 900 myself (two part top). I ordered the top from the site below and received the tack strips, glue, and everything in a couple days and should have the top this week. This will be my first attempt but I have a couple "how tos," the official Saab manual, and time so I'm not too worried. Check out the site, they have a lot of information on the top along with different packages. I'm sure if you give them a call they can help you out as well.

Also, wrong forum, but hopefully I helped a little!

there is no doubt that almost anyone can put a top on if you have the correct tools and some machanical skill . the question is how nice is the car and how good do you want the top to look on your nice car? there are many shops in my area and there are some that shouldnt even do convertibles.there was a shop doing a step by step artical on installing a top an a old mustang in a mag, they were standing by this nice car smiling when they were done and the top was just terrible looking.i am all for people working on there own cars but when it come to something that will effect the way it looks you just need to be careful. especially when a glass window isnt cheep and a mistake can be costly.

I just hope that mustang tops are easier than my wife's 91 miata was....HOLY SMOKES!! That was my first and only attempt at changing a top. It came out looking great, but now I know why shops charge so d**n much to do it!!! I spent the next few days having nightmares of rivets, rain rails, weatherstripping, rubber cement.....
