Default Car getting slower

Hi everyone,

I have an 07 GT and for the last few weeks my car has been getting progressively slower, not just seat of the pants but actually slower at the track. I've lost almost a second off my best time at the 1/4 mile. It seems to have lost power at the top end, like it's struggling to rev.

Tonight I couldn't pull away from a Lexus 350, which was kind of embarrassing.

I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the K&N filter. I'm going to do the sparkplugs next if I can muster the courage to take them out.

I'm thinking of disconnecting the battery to reset the computer but don't know if that will help.

I have a scangauge II and there are no codes on the car.

Any other ideas? I really prefer not to take it to the dealer since they are retarded morons.

How many miles on the car? How much are you at the track? Ever have done a full tune-up? Ever clean the fuel injectors?

car has about 15,000 miles, regular check-ups, no injector cleaning. I've been to the track maybe 20 times since I bought the car.

I'd do the battery disconnect for 20-30 minutes first, then drive it like you stole it. After that, clean the TB, run an entire tank with fuel system cleaner...

Any chance you're running leaded fuel and clogging the cats?

I'll try that, thanks. As for the fuel, unleaded premium only but out here you never know what's in the pump, as soon as I get some money I'll get a full exhaust and drop the cats.

No, It launches fine, it's at the top end where it seems to lack power.

FYI, after the PCM reset from the battery disconnect, the engine may idle and run a bit rough while it "re-learns" for a good 10-20 miles or more.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

I'm still going to order new plugs and all the tools needed to remove them in case they break trying to get them out. I'm going with the 1-piece Champions, which I hope don't suck :-p

Also, make sure the TB is fully open when the gas pedal is floored(you can check this without starting the engine by turning the ignition to the ON position with the air intake removed), and the exhaust stream is the same thru both tailpipes at high rpms(obviously with the engine running).
