Default Exhaust size (2,5 or 3 inch)

Hi everybody!

Next week I'm going to order a Magnaflow catback system with the Magnapack mufflers and I'm starting to feel panic since I can't decide wether I should go for the standard 2,5" tubes or the 3" tubes. Gains in low and mid end torque is a plus.

Any pros and cons with the different tube sizes?

When it comes to the sound I'm looking for that deep typical muscle car sound that may set of a car alarm or two when you are driving through parking houses

Eventually I'm also going to get headers and a catted x or h pipe. Is this something I should have in mind when choosing the tube size?

I'm not a big fan of drone, so if any of the two tube sizes may cause more drone than the other I'll probably stick with the one that causes the least.

Thanks!

From what I know, the 3'' will make it quieter, especially on the stock motor.

Unless you plan on going with F/I and having 600hp, then go with the 2.5" No need for a 3" system on a N/A motor. I had the magnapack 2.5" system. With the stock catted H, it's fairly loud and deep. When I added the prochamber with hi-flow cats, it became louder and a maybe a little deeper. There is some drone with both the H and prochamber. The X pipe might clear up some of the drone. Overalll it's an excellent sounding system. And yes, it can set car alarms off both in parking garages and parking lots.

Ok, then I'll stick with the 2,5" tube size

I dont know about the 4.6 but the 5.0 would lose torque if you had a fairly stock engine and had anything larger than 2.5.
