I'm not familiar with sf3. I own an xcal 2 and am familiar with the 3 also. You can't custom tune yourself just with the handheld tuner. The only use I have for my xcal 2 is to load my one custom 92 octane tune I have. Otherwise it is useless to me. Basically it will only be a handheld way for you to transfer a custom tune from your computer onto your car, and read, clear codes if needed. Sct livelink can be used, but I'm not advanced enough to mess or deal with that.

sf3 and xcal are the same thing. both allow you to keep 3 custom tunes plus the canned tune pre loaded from sct. you are not going to be able to do any really adjusting of your a/f like what someone does on a dyno with the real custom tuning software. whoever writes your custom tune can lock you out of changing things like rear gear ratio, spark advance, temp to activate high speed fan, and all those other things, but most dont and you can ask for it to be left open for changing later. brenspeed, bamachips, or brooksspeed for email tunes.
