Warranty power upgrades ???'s
What mods are allowed on a new 2010 mustang Gt premium that will not void the warranty?
Where can I go and who do I ask to find out what I can do to "personalize" my mustang's power output and sound quality without voiding my warranty?
Ya....I know......I want to keep the car for a long time so I am going to stay conservative during the warranty period!!!
thanks for any help.

In order for an aftermarket modification to void a warranty, the dealer must prove that the mod you installed is a direct cause for the failure, if you encounter one. If you do have a failure that requires dealer attention, just swap back to stock and take the car back to the dealer w/o the mods installed, if possible. I believe it is the Moss Mangussen (sp?) Act or something like that that disallows dealers from voiding a warranty just for an aftermarket part.
Different dealers are more mod friendly than others so you may want to check with your local dealer and get their opinions prior to doing anything crazy!

I purchased an extended warranty even though the used Mustang I bought still had factory warranty left. The extended warranty now goes until 2014 or 75,000 miles. The car has 20k right now. The best thing about my extended warranty is that it doesn't need to be serviced by a dealer. I can take it to any ASE certified shop. My mechanic who I trust and have used since 2001 won't question my upgrades. I bought this warranty knowing that I would add aftermarket parts to my car.

What a shame. By the time your warranty runs out you'll have wasted all that time and mileage NOT enjoying your car to the max.
The answer to your question is simple: it depends on what dealer you go to and how easily intimidated you are. The best bang-for-the-buck w/o going FI is a CAI & custom tune. If you still wet your panties about warranty, you can return the car to stock in about 15 minutes.

Thanks for the help. Just needed a basic starting point.
After I get the car broke in I'm sure I'll venture into the after market and push the limits of any factory warranty. I figure for now I'll "play it safe" and just try to make the smart mods....
