Tune with factory intake. Who has done it?
#11
That wasn't advertised, it was tested in muscle mustangs and fast fords. It makes sense why the k and n filter only got 8 rwhp, where as the full intake (which uses part of the ford one) gains 5 rwhp more at 13, at the peak. These tunes and intakes do wonders for the whole powerband tho.

"Typical gains with the cold air and custom tune are 20 to 25 horsepower and up to 25 ft/lbs of torque. With proper tuning you will see extra power over the entire RPM range, not just a peak number."
This is what i was talking about.....now who's telling the truth?...

The problem with most of these vendors claims is that they pertain to 05/09 cars. What improvements so 2010's get?
JLT actually talks about this on their website under the 2010 CAI links.

There are quite a few threads about the impact a CAI & tune combo has on the '10 vs the '05-'09s. But if you believe the manufacturer's claims you're living in la la land. All of the tune required CAI's are equivalent in performance. You can run multiple dyno runs with the same CAI and get as much variance as running back-to-back pulls with different CAI's.
But the 20-25 RWHP of a CAI & TUNE COMBO on the '05-09 is accurate. The overall gain on the '10 is alittle less since the '10 is starting out at 15 CRANK HP over the earlier years to start with due to a tune that's already mildly tweaked plus a tad more air flow.

heres what steeda says, compare it to what fast fords said in their test:
"Typical gains with the cold air and custom tune are 20 to 25 horsepower and up to 25 ft/lbs of torque. With proper tuning you will see extra power over the entire RPM range, not just a peak number."

Haha I see what you're saying, but it was also in that issue, tested with dyno runs and what not. And to be honest, that seems rather truthful according to the tests done by muscle mustangs and fast fords.

Keep believing what the magazines report. I remember that a popular Mustang magazine "tested" the new C&L Intake Manifold and got ~25 rwhp (on a dyno). Then when people started buying them they got no gains.

Its pretty common knowledge that the 2010's are underrated, but again, its cool, the 2010 is one or 2 tenths quicker, its nothing to be upset about bud.
Its in the march issue of muscle mustangs and fast fords, on page 136.

And the 2010 weighs 50 pounds more, so maybe its magic?!?!? LOL Don't always believe magazines, track tests can vary wildly on the exact same vehicle with time of year, humidity, altitude, etc. But again, you have page 136 to show to your friends...
