Default Uh Oh. Possible Tranny Problem.

I started hearing a squealing noise today like an idler pulley was going bad. I was going nuts trying to figure out what it was since it made no noise revving in driveway with hood up. Went for a ride tonight to diagnose ... Bingo. As I was slowly shifting through the gears all was quiet until 4th Gear. Then the squeaky bearing noise. Only noisy in 4th. Crap! Is there a bearing in the tranny only associated with 4th gear? Back to the dealer ...

Sorry to hear about that the dealer should take care of that with no problem hope thats the last pain you have to deal with the car.

Well .. if it needs a new tranny ... maybe I can talk them into the 6060 replacement instead of the 3650 ...

Brought Mustang in for Oil Change today and had them listen to tranny. They definitely heard the noise. They checked undercarriage and saw nothing loose or interfering with shifter linkage.

Their Tranny Specialist works MOn-FRi so I have to drop car off and let him check it out.

Just stopped by dealer. The tranny is OUT of the car ... mechanic is getting ready to open it up and see what's going on inside ...

I found some old TR3650 TSB's and the Ford term for the sound it was making is "Bearing Growl". There is no specific TSB for 2010 cars ... but the TSB for the older models said to replace Syncros and Snap-Rings ... if metal is found in Transmission then Replace Transmission.

Jeez man, I hate it for you (I know I'd be pretty unhappy if I were in your shoes) but maybe your car picked up all the random defects for the rest of us in the area....

Dealer said they found issue with counter shaft and 5th gear. Ford told them to overhaul it not replace it. Probably another week until I get it back.
