Obviously Whipple has done something right
Seriously. I've been looking all over the web for days and I can't find one case of a blown engine with a Whipple supercharger. That includes searching other forums.
Every complaint of a blown stock motor over the net is either from a "suspected" bad tune or from running higher boost levels than what is recommended and even then they're blowers of other manufacturers. None of them are Whipples. I even contacted Whipple themselves and the rep I talked to said he can only recall two cases of people popping their all-stock engines and in both cases the customer went on a test drive without installing the fuel pump first. He went on to assure me that as long as everything is installed properly that I will have no issues.
Yes there is a question here. Can anyone here recall a case of a blown engine with a Whipple blower? The reason I'm asking is because I'm still debating about whether I should forge my engine internals and get a Kenne Bell blower (which is significantly less than a Whipple) or just keep my engine stock and get the most expensive (but safest) blower out there. Decisions, decisions.

well since you are really digging deep to
find that one case, there is one guy on
another forum......
here's the link.....whatever the reason for
his motor blowing, it is certainly rare to
see.

He had it dyno tuned at the very least.
Here's one of his posts.

There is a post on another forum of someone dynoing their car with whipples tune. The shop didn't install one of the fpdm's correctly and it went very lean past 4k rpms. Needless to say the power dropped off quickly, but the motor never popped. He even ran it twice!
If you stay with Whipples tune, you will probably never blow the stock motor. It's very conservative with the AFR.
Whipples tune is also for 91 octane gas, so if you are lucky like me, then you can only get 93 and have less to worry about.

I found it for you. It seems the tuner is known for blowing at least one other motor and his motor blew 1 week after being dyno tuned.

As I said in the other post. I've never read about a motor letting go with whipple's tune.

lol Seriously though, I'm probably going to save up for a couple more months since I am a very firm believer in being prepared. I have a lot of money in my account now but the more I have left over, the better off I'll be if the unlikely event does occur that something catastrophic happens.
