Default clutch very different then a jeep's?

I have had 2 Jeep Wranglers, both 5 speeds, been driving manuals for 3 years, i know how by now... I got in the Mustang 6 cyl, 5 speed, and stalled it instantly... the sales man stalled it.... my dad of 50 years driving all different cars, also stalled it a few times. If i give it a touch of gas to get going, enough for a jeep to have no issues, it will dog down and almost stall or stall out.... To compensate, i seem to have to get it up over 1000 rpms and let out the clutch real slow, and it'll get going... I do not want to burn this clutch out, but after 700 miles i still am not comfortable with it... I only stall it roughly once a day, but i really got to finesse it...

Once im in motion, it is fine... i bit firm going into gear, but not an issue, seems to be common on these.

I test drove a wrangler today, hoped in, and drove it with no issues, it felt normal... this either has extremely high gear ratios compared to the Jeep, or something is not right...

Common, or not?

Just takes some getting used to. Cruising around the city, in my 07, I take off in second by just easing off the clutch, dont ever need to use the gas till after its moving...

That will not happen on a V6. They are very different and easy to stall. The clutch has a very small point in which it catches and until you get use to it you will be rough. Took me about a week and a half to get it perfectly down. You cannot just release the clutch slowly on this car and expect it to go, you have to dig into the throttle a little bit and ease off the clutch slowly. I had the same problem. I was coming from driving 5-speed scion tC's and I was shocked the first time I drove this car how touchy it was.

To the Op: nothing is wrong with your car, thats just how this tranny is.

I don't know how relevent this is, but I would like to share my experience, it may apply here.

I have been driving manuals every day since 1972. When I purchaced a 1989 Honda Civic, I had the exact same issue discribed in this thread, a very small catch point. I complained to Honda every time I returnrd it for service, but was always told nothing was wrong. I got used to it.

Two years later, Honda released a service bulletin concerning clutches (I was working for a Honda dealership at the time) and, after I insisted, had the dealer install a new assembly, clutch, throw and plate.

Night and day! The car now clutched as all Honda's do, very easy.

This may apply to the 2010 V6 only because my 2010 GT clutches as good as any Honda I have ever driven, in fact this was a major factor in my buying the Mustang.

So Ford knows how to get it right.

I guess my point is that possibly patience and perseverence will reward V6ers that have this problem if enough complain about it.

My $.02

I have been driving manual transmission since 1983. Most if them have been Mustangs. This 2010 Mustang GT is by far the EASIEST to shift and get going from 1st gear. For me, this shifts like an import

+1, wilkinda

My previous car was an Acura RSX Type-S with the much heralded 6-speed. A great manual setup.

My 2010 GT is just a half notch below it as far as ease and fun.

idk compared to any honda or toyota 5-speed I have driven, my V6 5-speed is quite rough. I actually have to bring it in soon because I think the second gear syncro is bad. My car hates going from first to second, it almost feels like it wants to throw second gear out but it doesn't. This is my only complaint, the clutch is fine now that I am used to it.
