Default My Latest Problem!! Thermostat?

A few weeks back got a Whipple big boost H.O. Kit(intercooler) installed on my auto 4.6. Got it dynoed and it ran great. For a few days. Now it takes 15 or more minutes to warm up. I found out by going WOT one night and the A/F was 10.4. After a 1/2 drive My symptoms are the top two rad hoses are hot, the crossover is almost meltdown hot, motor is hot, bottom rad hose is cool. Blower case is just warm. Coolant levels are all good, no leaks found.I ordered a new 160 degree thermostat. Of course no one stocks them up here! I'm hoping this is the case. Question:Why doesn't my car throw a code? Is this a no brainer or could it be something more serious? Thx.-Daryl

did you install your thermostat upside down?

sounds stupid...but I know I've done it before on my old Chevies.

Well if they did, it's been running with an upside down thermostat for two years.I've had the blower on with this thermostat for about two years. Just added the intercooler kit two weeks ago.

doesn't the Intercooler require a different intake than the Non-Intercooled Intake?

if so, they had to remove the entire blower, coolant crossover and other goodies. I know my Roushcharger was that way...unless KB is smart and puts all the Intercooler Plumbing into the Intake, but leave out the Heat Exchanger/Plumbing/Pump for what you initially had.

Whipple installs the intercooler under the blower case in the valley of the Intake Manifold which remains bolted as does crossover, plumbing etc.'06 Thermostat is located in plumbing at drivers side between rad and block. Was changed in '07.

Because the thermostat is not a sensor. So there would be no code.

If you want to see if your thermostat is working properly, take it out, put it in some water on the stove with a thermomter in the water. Turn some heat on and see when it pops open.

Or just spend $10 and 10 minutes and replace it. Look at instructions before you do it, and make sure you find the little O ring.

Unfortunatley I live in Canada and no one carries a 160* thermostat and am unable to physically work on my car.I will just have to wait patiently and hope that this is what was causing my surges a week ago.Meanwhile I can get the bearing on my alternator fixed.
