Exclamation Cleaning the MAF and Throttle Body. Info needed ASAP.

Hey all.

I am installing a C&L Racer intake along with a Brenspeed tune.

My car has about 43k on it and after all the talk about problems with tunes in cars with dirty MAF's and Throttle Bodies.... I think I just may clean mine before putting the CAI on and uploading the tune.

I have to get this done today though because my bud is doing the CAI n Tuner on mine with me and we are going to do a few appearance mods on his car.

So my questions are....

1. What brand of MAF cleaner do I use?
2. What brand of Throttle Body cleaner do I use?
I know you have to use a certain kind that is safe for our cars because they have some sort of protectant on them that you do not want to disturb.

I heard that CRC was a good brand for both but neither of the NAPA shops here carry the TB cleaner, only the MAF cleaner... So I need some REAL help.

3. Please go over how to do both and also how to clean the TB WITHOUT taking the S.O.B. off.

Edit: I am actually going to clean them IF we run into a problem after the installation and tune... But I want to go ahead and have the products on hand and know how to do it as well so we can get it out of the way if it is needed.
Thanks!

I saw that.

As I stated before....I am looking for a TB cleaning WITHOUT taking it off.
Also the dang thing has no sound. It also does not have a MAF cleaning tutorial.

I dont believe you can do a good job cleaning the TB w/o removing it, nor do I know of anyone who would actually recommend that. Sure you can clean it up still installed, but why? It is easy to do so I dont understand the hesitation I guess. Either way disconnect the battery before doing any maintenance especially when you need to unplug stuff. As for the MAF just pull it out 2 #20 torx screws(mine has always had a cai so I dont know if they changed the screws on mine or not) unplug and spray it down with the MAF cleaner. I use crc maf cleaner and followed the directions on the can, haynes manual wouldnt hurt either.

Um... I did not unplug my battery when I installed my CAI/Tune...

Is this a major no no?
What could happen and what symptoms would I get?
