Default x-pipe experts wanted

Got a 05 GT 4.6, 3v, 5 spd. Installing a CAI, UDP's and a xcaliber 3 tuner.
Does any know if a x-pipe with high flow cats have any performance increase?
If a off road x-pipe is used with stock manifolds and mufflers, how will it sound?
Want a better sound than stock but I don't want anything too annoying.
Anybody experienced using these components?
X-pipe with high flow cats or off road x-pipe.
Thanks to all.

And here is mine. Pypes catted X (hi-flow cats), resonators/glasspacks and SLP LM.
Sound quality is not the best. Sounds much better in person.

As far as sound, X-pipes tend to be a raspier than the H. An X with a straight thru muffler such as stingers, magnapacks or glasspack/resonators will have a deep tone with a little bit of raspiness. IMO a little bit of raspiness sounds okay.

I've got a Shelby GT, came with the 4.6 NA engine. It also comes standard with Ford Racing's Xpipe and Ford Racing's mufflers. Running the stock downpipe/cat off the stock mufflers the car is QUIET. I put a Whipple on it last spring and I hated that the stock manifolds were rusty and looked like crap but didn't want to get rid of them for headers. I ported the stock manifolds, which are a great design, blasted them and then had them ceramic coated. I wanted a little more exhaust sound and didn't want to get rid of the rest of the exhaust the car came with so I build SS 304 grade mandrel bent downpipes/offroad pipes for the car to work with the factory Ford X pipe, as far as I know I'm the only one who has them, I sure couldn't find any. Anyway, the exhaust is just what I wanted, for sure opened it up and the sound is excellent. I fired it up to test fit the offroad pipes and tomorrow I am finishing it all up. I'll take some pictures and shoot some video.

X-pipe will make the car way loud, especially if you change the mufflers to aftermarket. There really is no power gain for off road pipes. Just a lot louder and maybe 25 lbs of weight loss. For a good sound better than stock you just need to change the mufflers. there are plenty of sound bytes online to listen to most of the mufflers out there.

My car is completed and just came off our dyno last week, there's a thread I posted about it on here.

With that said, the car is louder when you are on the throttle, at steady state cruise of any speed at all I can not tell a difference in the sound from having cats to not having them. Also, I disagree 110% about the power gains taking the cats off. I posted dyno sheets in the other thread. With porting the stock exhaust manifolds and adding the offroad pipes my car gained 20 whp and 35 ft lbs of torque.

I have an o/r h and I can easily feel a loss of torque down low from my stock midpipes to o/r.

I don't know what your set up is brad, naturally aspirated, tuned, not tuned, custom tuned or what. I know on my car, which has a Whipple, the car gained power. I know on my naturally aspirated LS1 removing the cats gained, adding an X pipe added even more. I used an actual dyno in all my testing, not a butt dyno
