2011 Mustang GT goes 8.60s in the 8th..

...on an unprepped track (airport runway) with a writer from popular hot rodding. Each person invited made a handful of passes in both cars and from what im hearing, they all saw similar results, with the mustang being around 2 tenths quicker...these arent great times, but consider what stock camaro SS's actually run on a prepped track?

now, we only need to learn if these 2011s for the media were built up at all...as the one tested at 395 at the rear wheels.

Yeah Ive already seen that. I glossed over it since they were automatics and the surface was poor. An Automatic Camaro doesnt even have the LS3.

Seeing as how a 2005+ with just a CAI/Tune can run 8.2-8.3 I think the car has a 7 in it.

Motortrend got 12.8 @ 110.8 out of a loaded up car including 3.73, Brembos and 19's.
Stock 2005-2009 cars have went 13.2 which is 0.4 quicker than Motrotrend went in a Bullitt.
Im hoping for a 12.4 with the right driver and conditions.

you do know that the L99 and LS3 are basically the same engine, right? technically, if the 5.0s power numbers were real (412), the L99 would be a "better" match...

the point isnt that they ran 8.60s...the point is that when equal drivers made passes in both vehicles, the mustang was routinely quicker.
