Default Gear Bearings Question

My mechanic went to go install my 3.73 gears and he noticed the bearings were very worn. Now my car is an 05 with only 12k miles on it. Im the second owner and I only put on 2k miles. Could someone tell me why these bearings are already worned out.

With only 12k on the car any bearing in the differential should be good as new. If already worn, i would guess a defective bearing or the axle was run low of oil. Then there is the possibility they were installed incorrectly. Are the 3.73s replacing the stock gears?

Could be bad bearings from the factory too. I've seen a couple 8.8's in rangers that have had the chrome flake off the race.

The shop that did my gears found the bearing caps were not even seated properly. I only had 1300 miles on the car when I did the gears. He told me that he sees all kinds of issues with the 8.8 rear ends. So I'm not surprised by this at all.
