Lost 5th and reverse
 

I bought an '08 GT premium that has a Steeda short throw shifter installed. I've had it for 6 months and had some issues with 2nd but it's there if you look for it. Now all of a sudden I lost reverse. 5 minutes later I lost 5th. So now I have 4 gears. I assume it has something to do with the gates on the shifter. Anyone ever had this problem. How do I fix it. Does the installation of a short throw shifter invalidate the warranty?

My buddy lost a couple of gears with the same shifter at the track and all it was were loose bolts that came off and clogged the gear changer(stick). Not sure if this helps, hope so. Inside the boot of coarse. Good luck

Thanks Snakebite. I notice you are from Calgary. We are Canadian too - used to live in Edmonton for many years. I miss the west but not the snow and cold so now I just golf all year round.:icon_lol:

Problem identified
 

One of the nuts on the bar that links the shifter to the transmission had sheared. It was OK with back and forth (1st - 4th) but when that extra motion for 5th and reverse is thrown in, there was too much slack in the system.
