Bassani or Borla Axle-Back??

Which Bassani's are you referring too? I think most on the thread assumed you meant the chambered version. I liked the Bassani sound pre-mid-pipe, but it wasn't loud enough. I will say that the fitment from Bassani on both their X-pipe and axle-back was TERRIBLE.

Well, I just couldn't wait any longer! I was really leaning toward the Bassani's, then I made a radical decision.... I bought Flowmaster SS's ( model #817460) from Ninosport.com. A lot has been said about Flowmasters - good and bad - but I decided to take a chance on them. Worst case, I hate em and have to replace them down the road, but I think I will like them. The SS's are actually rectangular, which looks kind of strange, but installed they look good (the body has a black finish). I don't know a lot about exhaust technology, but I'm thinking that this design has a lot to do with the sound quality. I think they are a newer design since the 817410's that have been the choice of those going with Flowmaster axle-backs. Ninosport has a great video that really helped me decide. I still like the Borla's and the Bassani's, but I think these Flowmaster SS's will be a good choice for me. I'll post again after I get them and install them. Thanks for the opinions!

DLZ314: I was looking at the "straight-through" Bassani's. I also am not planning to change any other part of the exhaust system, so I really needed to choose an axle-back that would sound good on it's own. It seems that a lot of people who have Bassani axle-backs also have X-pipes, high flow cats, etc. I think the SS Flows will sound good with the rest of the system stock. Hopefully I won't have any fitment issues. I had a Pypes Violator on my V6 and it was really hard to get an acceptable fit; from reviews that I read I don't think I'll have that problem with the Flows.

I just put the Borla Catback stinger system on my 2010 GT and I must say, it sounds perfect. Deeper, but not louder. When you get on the car is when the volume goes up a tad but it is not LOUD. It is throaty and deep and gives the car a muscle sound. I love the Borla setup

Well, I've lived with the Flowmaster SS axle-backs for a couple of months now, so here's my review. I really like them overall, but they are a bit loud... not at all like the oval Flowmaster axle-backs. They do tend to drone a little around 1800 rpm when the engine is under load, but I've pretty much adjusted my driving to stay out of that situation. The great thing is they do not pop at all. They seem to let only the deeper sounds out... no raspy sounds. I think these mufflers make the car sound as close as possible to the old 5.0's. Some of my more civilized friends think the car is too loud, but my motorhead friends think it sounds great. I find myself hitting the accelerator a little too much just because I like the way the car sounds now! I just met a guy with Pypes axle-backs and we compared our systems in the parking lot of a convenience store. To me, his sounded just a little bit louder, but quite a bit more raspy and "poppy" when he got on it a little. He even said he liked my Flows better. So, all-in-all, I am happy with them. If you're looking for just a little more of an edge over stock, these SS's are not for you, but if your looking for a nice aggressive, non-raspy, non-popping, a-bit-on-the-loud-side system, you'll like these. I put a couple of pics in my album (I don't know how to put them threads) for anyone who wants to see how great they look installed. To those who posted comments, thanks, I appreciate your opinions. It's great that we have so many choices for exhaust components and other things.

I am trying to find a clip with the Bassani Race mufflers (the chambered ones).. on a 05-09 stang that has long tubes and a catted X or H pipe.
I have a friend offering to sell me his dirt cheap and I am looking to lessen the volume of my current setup with SLP loudmouths but I don't want the volume to go WAY down.
Wish I could find a dang clip to hear them.
