Default Bassani or Borla Axle-Back??

Hi all,

I am trying to decide whether to go with a Bassani or Borla Axle-Back system for my 06 GT. I want a nice and noticable rumble. Both have been recommended to me. I had both a Ford Racing (Borla) and a Pypes muffler on my 07 V6 - liked em both but the Pypes was a PIA to fit properly. Anybody have direct experience with Bassani or Borla and your GT?

Thanks!
Roy

Hey fella. Honestly, I initially chose my Borla Stingers because the "muffler" is tucked up underneath the car. I do not for the life of me like seeing the "rectangular" mufflers sticking out from underneath the bumper on the 05-09's. Just a personal preference.

I also youtubed the crap out of 05-09 GT's with Stingers and loved the sound. So, I bought them and have loved the sound ever since. They're "agressive" without being TOO loud. Perfect.

However, be warned that around 60mph in 5th you might hear some drone.

I LOVE my Borla Stingers! They sound great and look great! I get a lot of compliments on the sound they put out, and the look. I love the look of the muffler too, tucked up inside, but you can see the Borla name if you look through the wheel wells. These are the best in my opinion, you won't be disappointed. I would agree, there is a little drone sometimes, but I think that's pretty common with most exhaust, and it isn't bad at all.

I like my Bassani's! Nice, low, throaty rumble but not too loud.

The Borla Stingers have a very nice sound. Despite the drone, I love mine.

Are you getting any trumpeting with that setup? I am looking to change mufflers to get rid of my horn section out back! LOL

OP, long tubes can change everything. Make sure you buy mufflers that will sound good with LT's. My exhaust was awesome, then installed LT's with a catted h pipe, now I have way too much trumpeting.

I like the look of a cylindrical muffler too - if you can see them, they should look good. Both the Borla's and the Bassani's are cylindrical. Probably either one would be a great choice. I've been listening to clips on u-tube and looking at pics of stangs with both systems and I still haven't made my mind up one way or the other. Sound quality and build quality both seem right up there, so price is kinda the only thing that differentiates them (at least to me, not having heard either setup in person). American Muscle seems to have the best prices: $459.99 for the Bassani's and $549.99 for the Borla's - a $90 price difference. To complicate things, they have Ford Racing ones for $489.99... only the $30 more than the Bassani's. Well, I guess I'll ponder for a few more days... or weeks!
