Midpipe exhaust leak tips!!!
I noticed the x pipe I just installed is leaking. On start up, the water is coming out where the joint is. Should I just tighten the clamps or is there anything else I can do. If I don't fix the leak 100%, is there a power loss? the "phift phift" sound bothers me to even though its not terrible. Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem and I went to Auto Zone and got some muffler patch. It's a paste that you put on and it hardens like metal. I did this because once I get the money Im gonna replace the entire exhaust from the cats back. Dont remember the name of this stuff but it's in a can that looks like car wax and worked pretty well.

where is it not seating? from headers to the X or after X to the mufflers? Left or right side? etc.. Are you missing any gaskets or flanges in that area?
If you can find the specific problem area it may be a simple fix - loosen up (just enough to get play) any fasteners before & after the immediate vicinity - and make sure everything is straight / true / and/or fitted correctly. If everything is in line, you may just have to de-burr / file down some rough edges of the male/female connection. I don't know if the muffler tape or header wrap is a good permanent fix for that area...

I have the exact same problem on my 06 with the pypes off-road x. The problem occurs where the the break in the pipe is right before the x. There are the flanges up near the manifolds with two bolts. Then it comes down where the cats would be and there is a slip fit pipe with a clamp. Mine are leaking around the slip fit and I tried to position the clamst over the cut out area but it doesn't completely fix it. I've been thinking about getting it welded.

For fixing those kids of little leaks, if I want to be able to take apart the joint in the future, I'll use some copper RTV. It's high-temp, and will seal small openings nicely.
The muffler stuff mentioned above is good, too; I've used it on pipes that are permanently connected to prevent leaks.
Both are better put on during assembly, IMO, to get under the leak and stop it. The muffler patch (or welding of course) would work better if you're applying it over the outside, as a permanent seal.

i put the pypes o/r x on and i have a leak right where the driver side header meets the down pipe up at the flanges. i talked to the guy i bought the pipe from and he said he had the same problem and all he had to do was take it down and reposition it. im gonna try that and put some of that copper rtv on there if i can find it. that leak noise is so annoying! sounds like back in the day when you stuck a playing card in your bike wheel and thought you were cool!
