Default weight reduction

about to shed some weight and wondering how much does the shaker 1000 subs weight?? a good 20-30 lbs.?? dosen't look very heavy, but could be wrong. Definitly gonna ditch the spare and jack on track day, as well as pick up that light weight radiator bracket with sway bar from Brenspeed soon...

if you travel over to the s197forums.com site, they have the weights listed of almost every part.

It takes 5 minutes to remove the Shaker 1000 and both amps.
I do it every time i go to the track.
5 minutes to re-install also.

It is more like 40+ [pounds and the amps are a good 20+ pounds i bet.

Interesting. The axle-exchange driveshaft, which people seem to speak pretty highly of, only drops 16 pounds off vs. the stock part.

Damn, 40 lbs.?? I am definetly gonna take that crap out lol

and 20 lbs. for amps is alot, considering they don't even produce that much bass.. I wouldn't mind if they weighed that much and vibrated my entire cabin with ground shaking bass, but they leave so much more to be desired in that department.

Weight loss and shift was a major focus of this latest build. Ironically the car actually weighed about 200 lbs more than stock with the turbo, plumbing, and cage.

Builder tells me we are at least 300 lbs lighter now with some weight shifted to the center or rear of vehicle, away from the nose.

Deleted following
a/c
sound system
lots of wiring and harnesses
some heats shields

2 speed powerglide (with very lightweight 1 piece driveshaft with GM yolk) replaced 4r70w and is about 85 lbs lighter
large single transcooler (replaced the 2 that were there for the 4r) moved to where the stock fuel tank used to be
small fuel cell located at rear of vehicle
