I recently installed a C&L 80mm MAF, C&L inlet tube, MAC upper intake plenum and MAC 75mm TB. A friend just told me the 75mm might not pass a smog check in California. Is this true? If so, will it pass by swapping back the stock TB on the new plenum and keeping the 80mm MAF and inlet tube hooked up? None of the stuff came with a C.A.R.B approval so now I'm wondering if I have illegal contraband on my car (2001 GT).

unless you know a smog shop that can help you out......[&:] keep your stock parts just in case.

I'm not sure that letting in more air would screw up emissions.

It's not just the emissions part... we also have to pass the visual inspection. Lame idea. If I put something on my car to make it burn cleaner and get better MPG I'll pass the emissions, but could fail the visual... gotta love California.
The nice thing is that our cars don't have to pass a safety inspection. So I could have the most unsafe car in America, and as long as it passes smog, has current tags, and is insured, I can drive it anywhere!
