Default Driveshaft or Rear end?

I am currently in the process of building my 07 turbo stang. Everything is currently built besides the driveshaft and rear-end. Unfortunately, I am running out of money. Surprising huh? I only have enough money to build one of the two for right now. Im just curious on how strong the stock driveshaft really is. I plan on when I'm done with this build to be at around 500rwhp since I wont be able to upgrade both. Im seeking 850rwhp when I'm done. Also, I dont plan on hooking up as of right now with the tires I have. What do you guys think I should upgrade first?

Thanks,

Daniel

if i remember correctly the stock 2 piece is actually very strong its just not efficient and very clunky i would do the rear end although there are many people running around with that kind of power with stock rears

go with the DS, you'll feel a little difference. your stock rear can handle 500 rwhp.
do the rear later when you need to.

Have you heard of anyone running above 500rwhp on the stock driveshaft?

I've heard upgrading the DS makes a huge difference, especially with alluminum. I usually go from 40mph rolls and when I was at 411rwhp I was hooking up with these tires I have now. Since I usually go from rolls, do you think the rear end will be okay?

No, Im planning on just building the 8.8. Thinking 31 or 33 spline with a new carrier, 3.73, c-clip eliminators, and welding the tubes.

I have 540 rwhp and have made several passes at the strip. No problems with the stock drive shaft.

Your differential will be just fine until you start putting a real load on it. IF you have sticky tires, then the clutch pack will eventually go out on the diff. Replacing it with a locker and willbe enough to keep it going fine. I have a locker, and it's noisey on the street. A few of my friends have had their diff rebuilt 3-4 times because the stock trac-lock just isn't built to withstand 1.6 60' and 500 rwhp. If you are going to be racing, 33 or 35 spline axle with a locker will handle you car. If you are going to occasionally race, the 31 spline will keep you going.

Thanks for the info... What spline are you running and what kind of locker? I think I might go with 33 or 35 since I plan on making 850rwhp with street radials. What setup overall would you recommend?
