2011 mustang gt for a new driver?
 

I turned 16 in april and we are going look at a 2011 gt tommrow, and im wondering if its a good car for a new driver, i have a uncle with a 07 gt and i like it

My warning would be that as a 16 yr old, the temptation to drive like there's no tomorrow would be extremely hard to resist... Especially with that much HP on tap.....Be careful...

Additionally, the cost of insurance for a 16 yr old driving a Mustang GT would be cost prohibitive to many, myself included... Be sure to factor that in your choice if you do not come from a high net worth family.

I would recommend maybe the V6 instead. Nicer and faster than any pre-2011 V6 for sure...

+1 what Don said. For someone with less than a few years driving experience, the power of the old GT's, let alone the 2011, can be lethal; not just to you but others on the road. Do yourself a favor and say "no".

i dont really drive my moms car fast, she has a xj supercharged jaguar

dont do it youll kill yourself or someone else im 20 and have a 2011 and ive had some fast cars and this thing is insane

well it looks like you family is we off so what car you get it up to you. the 2011 gt are factory rated at 412hp that a lot for a new driver you may have drove your moms jag but that's YOUR MOMS jag, that's in the back of you head when you drive it so you not likely to drive too fast in it.

all we can say is please be considerate of other drivers out there and if you want to go fast please do it at the track not in a street race or something. We dont want to see a headline of another young person end his/hers or other lives because he/her was reckless at the wheel of a fast car or any car for that matter.

I consider myself to have always been a pretty responsible person. At 16 I built a 66 gmc pickup with a fuel injected corvette engine. In college I drove a BMW M3, and now, at 25, I'll be driving a 600hp Saleen Mustang.

I can honestly say that if I had a 412hp car at 16 I probably would have wrecked it a few times over. Not out of carelessness, but simply not knowing what that much power is capable of.

If you do end up getting it, just be extremely careful. INVEST in some driving courses for both regular and race driving. You're much less likely to do something stupid on the street, if you get to do the 'stupid' things on a track with a professional driver.

yeah, i really dont want it for its speed or power, Witch is nice but i like the car, And i dont like v6 mustangs i will never get one.... Save the power for the track.

Also what to get, auto or manual?

If you can afford it, go for it dude. Just don't be stupid. You can talk about your mom's Jag all you want, in fact you could write a 500 page novel on the time you've spent behind the wheel of your mother's car. All that talking won't make up for a few years actual experience.
