Default Mustang GT 4.6 Problems.

A greeting from Spain.

Mustang starts up , then i get going and say i'm cruising in 1st and i let off the gas; instead of slowing down like it normally would, it keeps going at that rpm. then say i'm cruising in 3rd at 3000 rpm and i push in the clutch, the rpms stay at 3000 for a few seconds. sometimes up to 20 seconds then they start to slowly fall back down to 1000 or so. it does this in every gear. Everything begins after cleaning the Throttle. Anybody know ? Thanks.

This is normal and is done to allow gases to burn off for emissions. However, a good custom tune will reduce or eliminate this RPM "hold".

Thank you for your response. Why they do not lower the RPM when I tread on the clutch?? Thanks Nuke.

Maintaining the high RPM's aid in burning any remaining gases in the combustion chamber from what I'm told and may have other Ford-determined benefits. I couldn't say.

Yea, but he's saying the RPMs hold up there for a long time, like "up to 20 seconds." If that began after cleaning the throttle (body), there has to be something sticking or a bad TPS, wouldn't you think?

Well, if this problem didn't start until you put the new throttle body on, it is logical to assume something there is amiss. Did you try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes to reset the computer and force it to "relearn" with the new throttle body?

would be grateful you were indicating the procedure to reset of the throttle, equal I did it badly. Thank you for your help, in Spain ford does not give support to the Mustang.
