Well money is not the issue. I mean it is, but only in the sense that I don't want to waste it. If, in the end, it was better to just mod my current stang, I would. Or, if it was better to get a GT500, I would do that. I am just trying to see what all I would need to do, in order to run 550-650 HP safely. Also, keep in mind, I will be paying install for all this. If I had a place, and the ability to do it myself (and fix things if something went wrong), I would just mob the stang I think. But with the cost of installing all these parts, I just think it might just be easier to buy a GT500 and already be at my goal.

If you can afford it I'd say go for the gt500. A couple grand put into it and you should be more than happy with the power. If I could I'd get one too

I was lucky to get an 2008 GT 500 and keep my 06 GT...I without a doubt...would say GET THE GT500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is really very much above the GT in every way...and for about $2000 I installed a Brenspeed stage 2 perfomance package and a dynotech DS...I dynoed 547 RWHP...honestly...IMO you cant bring a GT to this overall level...

Since you cant do the install, I would say gt500 but expect to spend more than you are planning. No way your buying a gt500 and not modding it too.

That's what I was going to say. The GT is limited in what you can do power wise unless you throw some major money into it. The fact that it's a vert is also somewhat limiting as well. The GT500 is a better ''foundation'' to build upon if you want some big numbers

Yes! Foundation. Perfect word. I think I am pretty much sold on a GT500. Now i just have to wait for a black one at a good price to come around. *gets a beer and lounge chair*

It'll take a built shortblock and (of course) a blower to match or exceed the GT500. It's true you can take a stock GT to 500whp - but you run a big risk of putting holes in your motor.

It's all in what you want. If I were able to trade up from my '06 GT to a GT500, I don't know that I would. The fact that it's a special edition vehicle is great for resale and cool to have that piece of history but for me, I'm going to make a car my own no matter what anyway. It just gives me a satisfaction of my own to take a stock GT and make it my own special edition. It has taken me a while with big trial and error (look up my blown motor saga), but I now have a GT with a forged Aluminator motor, Saleen S/C and lots of other things in there and only endless possibilities after.

The overall advice, do what is gonna be the most satisfying and fun for you.
