that's what i want to do; thanks for the info, everybody; seems like 255 is the concensus on how wide you can go with 8'5" rims.

shiet.. I might just get some 17x10s and go as wide as I can go without sacrificing handing too much. I care more about traction off the line than anything else... these tires will only see 4 months of hard driving throughout a year anyways. The rest of the other time it's winter...

I have BFG KDWIIs in the flavor of 255/45-18s on mine but
I will be going 275/40-18 next time.
Be sure and get the steering stops when you get the wider than stock tires.

315 on 8" is a bit much and that comes from someone with 26-11.50 x 17 ET Streets on Factory 8" rims.

Use this to figure out what you need

http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

Put in some different sizes. Pay attention to what rim width is says is recommended. Keep the tire height the same as stock (maybe go up to 1" taller on the rear). Also pay attention to the tire width that this website spits out if that's what you're looking for.

I'll have to double check the sizes it is available in, but I highly recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE760. Badass tire
