Default Mcleod Twin Disc Clutch and Flywheel Install

First I'm going to say the clutch is bad a$$. The install, however, was a pain in the a$$. It took nothing short of dropping the engine four inches with my S/C dragging the firewall to get the transmission off. I did the whole thing on jack stands. Trying not to lose a gallon of brake fluid after unhooking the hydraulic line going to the slave cylinder also proved to be problem. I stuck a wooden shish kabob stick in the line immediately when I unhooked it and then reattached it to the old slave cylinder once I had gotten it out of the transmission. Every other aspect of the installation was pretty easy. Just an fyi for those of you planning to do this on jack stands. Don't. It's dangerous and you'll feel like you pulled every muscle in your body afterward. There are some pictures attached

At least you were smart enough to get the best clutch the first time. Next time I drop my tranny that stupid protrusion on the passenger side of the bellhousing is coming off. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway now that it's over enjoy the fruits of your labor.

BruceH,
I know exactly what you're talking about. I'd also like to know who at Ford decided to put the uppermost third bolt attaching the starter to the tranny in a cave. Someone there had to be like, "This is a good idea!".

of job to the pros. doing it on jack stands doesn't sound too
much fun either.

Yeah, been there. Done that. WON'T be doing it again. I've still got the knuckle scars to prove it.

I wish the McLeod was available when I did mine. I installed a SPEC 3+, but after dealing with SPEC's A-hole customer service, I really wish I had waited for the McLeod to come out. (As for the SPEC, it performs great, but I'd never do repeat business with a company that treats you like an idiot.)
